The vindication of the Catalan language in all its dialect diversity has been the common thread of the institutional event organized by the Generalitat with which the celebrations of the Day of September 11 in Catalonia close.
The act, which has starting at 10:00 p.m. next to the Montjuïc Fountainsnext to the Four Columns of Puig i Cadafalch, had as its motto “One language, many accents”, to highlight the dialect diversity and territorial of Catalana theme that has permeated the different musical and artistic performances of the evening.
Artists such as Luz Casal, Mercè Arànega, Miquel Abras, Pau Alabajos, Pedro Da Costa, Neisha, Jordi Oriol, Adrià Salas, Vinyet Morral and Alidé Sans, among others, have participated in the event. show that has combined sung musica linguistic ‘performance’ and audiovisual projections, to claim the use of the language in all Catalan-speaking territories.
The Galician singer Luz Casalaccompanied on the piano by Josep Maria Baldomà, has performed a musical piece in Catalan, while Vicent Torrent, together with Pau Alabajos and Anna Villar, have sung “D’avui is singing“in tribute to the Valencian group Al tall.
“The Reapers”, national anthem of Cataloniahas been performed by eight choirs: the Lira Ampostina, l’Orfeó Lleidatà, the CordHomes, the Cor de Porcs, the Xalesta Choir, the Veus de Can Puig choir, the Veus de l’Estany choir and the Vozes choir.
All the musical performances have gone accompanied by a sign language interpreterrun by the socio-cultural association Encantades.
