The ‘castellers’ of Vilafranca have made history again. After the feat achieved last year on the Tots els Sants day, when they managed to raise the first 9-story pillar, with ‘folre’, ‘manilles’ and ‘propuntals’ of history, this noon the ‘colla’ has managed to lift an unpublished ‘nou de nou amb folre’. It is a complex construction composed of nine stories high and nine people per floor and that, in total, it has needed almost 500 people to rise. Until now, it had only been attempted in trials, with partial success, but never in an official competition. Hence, today’s feat of the ‘verds’ has been received with so much enthusiasm among fans of the ‘castells’. “We have achieved something historic. The formation has been erected andn a crowded square with more than 6,000 attendees. It is there where the ‘verds’ have begun to build this complex castell.
