Alberto Zordan48 years old, marathon runner from Sovizzo (Vicenza), was found dead in his home on the night between Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2025. According to friends and acquaintances, he enjoyed good health and had never shown any particular problems. Only a few days earlier, a teammate of hers had disappeared under similar circumstances: Anna Zilio39 years old, originally from Marano Vicentino, found lifeless on 13 October in her home in Verona. Both were part of the Team Km Sporta Veronese sports club that brings together running, cycling and triathlon enthusiasts.

The athlete’s family and friends have expressed doubts about the death of Alberto Zordanwho is described as attentive to his diet, free from vices (he didn’t smoke or drink) and used to training consistently. He had never had cardiological problems and was followed from a medical point of view, especially in this period, while he was preparing for the Valencia marathon on 7 December.
The Corriere della Sera reports the words of the friend Paolo Fongaro: “His will be a very hard loss to accept. Alberto was a person who didn’t complain, he saw defeats as a starting point. I called him ‘the samurai’ because he was a warrior who never stopped fighting. He gave one hundred percent in everything: in work, in family and in sport.” The relatives ask for clarity on the causes of death. As with Anna Zilio, the Prosecutor’s Office has also issued an order in the case of Zordan autopsy and investigations.

The 48-year-old started running about ten years ago. He had first been registered with Atletica Vicentina, then with Vicenza Marathon, until joining the Verona team in 2019. He dreamed of participating in the 2026 New York Marathon to celebrate its 50th anniversary. After studying accounting at the Fusinieri Technical and Economic Institute in Vicenza, he worked in the graphics sector. In 2013 he founded the Artegrafica Zordan company based in Sovizzo; the business subsequently closed. Since 2023 he was responsible for logistics and facilities at Agrolab Group Italia in Altavilla Vicentina, where his colleagues remember him with great affection. He leaves behind his sister Elena, his wife Valentina and an 11-year-old daughter.

A few days earlier, the team had faced another loss, that of Anna Ziliowho died in her sleep at just 39 years old, probably from cardiac arrest. It was her father who found the body, worried because he couldn’t contact her. Originally from Marano Vicentino, she had lived for years in Borgo Roma, in Verona, where she worked in a sporting goods shop.
On social media the running team dedicated a heartfelt message to her”Hi Anna. You were a cornerstone of our team. At this moment we cannot find the words to express the void you leave. We ask you understanding and silence in this moment of extreme pain.”
