For the Swiss textile group Calida Holding AG, the sale of the outdoor furniture division Lafuma Mobilier to Peugeot Frères Industry has a legal aftermath.
On Tuesday, the group of companies said in an ad hoc announcement that the buyer had “submitted a judicial lawsuit for damages in the amount of 39 million euros from the share access contract of July 30, 2024 against the Calida Group”.
No further details have been published. However, the Calida Group emphasized that it had “analyzed the application and the situation together with its legal advisors” and “considered the claims claimed both with regard to the basis, in the reasoning and in height as baseless”. Therefore, she “rejected the claims fully towards the buyer”. The group of companies also announced that it would provide further information “in due course”.
The Calida Group had sold Lafuma Mobilier to Peugeot Frères Industry at the end of July 2024 because it wants to concentrate entirely on its core business with the laundry brands Calida, Aubade and Cosabella as part of the current group strategy. Financial details of the transaction were not published at the time.
