“The budget deficit and government debt will rise sharply in the next five years if policy remains unchanged,” the Planning Bureau predicts

The Belgian economy will grow by approximately 1.3 to 1.4 percent per year until 2029. This means that from 2025 onwards it will fall below the growth rate of the entire eurozone. However, without adjustment, the budget deficit and government debt will rise sharply over the next five years. This was evident from new forecasts from the Planning Bureau on Thursday.
