The Brussels public prosecutor’s office wants municipalities to punish infringements with GAS fines

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office, which is struggling with a staff shortage, wants to leave the punishment of additional infringements to the municipalities. In addition to shoplifting up to a value of 250 euros, this now also concerns thefts with loot above that threshold. The same applies to assault and battery without inability to work and without aggravating circumstances, with the exception of domestic violence. The public prosecutor proposes this in a new protocol addressed to local authorities, writes L’Echo.
