The Boss in Hanover: Bad news for Springsteen fans

On Friday, July 5th, 2024, the time has come: Bruce Springsteen will give his only concert in Germany next year. The boss is performing with the E Street Band at the Heinz von Heiden Arena in Hanover. Pre-sales for the gig in Lower Saxony began today, Wednesday (November 8th, 2023).

The venue of the Hannover 96 football club has a total of 49,000 spectator spaces, of which 42,000 are seated and 7,000 are standing. You would think: logging in at ten is actually not necessary.

None! Already on Wednesday afternoon there were zero tickets left at Eventim, for example. All seven price categories between around 75 and around 190 euros are already sold out – the run for Bruce is huge. Things look a little better at Ticketmaster. Tickets for the side ranks are still available there. But: only so-called “platinum tickets”, which are not made of platinum, but only have platinum-like prices: between 349 and 449 euros. According to Ticketmaster information, “platinum tickets” do not offer any extras. “The organizer has set the prices for these tickets according to their market value. Tickets do not include VIP packages. Availability and prices may change.” So dynamic price development. Not the most popular “tool” among concert-goers who must feel like they are being pulled by a nose ring.

“Hospitality tickets” are also available from Ticketmaster: around 437 euros for a ticket with a hotel. There is something else on offer at Front of Stage 1 and Front of Stage 2, or simply “Seat PL 1”. This could even be cheaper than booking the “platinum tickets”. Also included is “overnight stay in a premium hotel” (is there actually a more overused word in the live business than “premium”?) and “other extras such as breakfast”.

At reseller exchanges like Viagogo, which have already been sanctioned in the past and whose tickets purchased there are declared invalid by many organizers, resale prices are now running hot. So everything is still available on the black market – or not, since Viagogo is not considered reputable. Let’s hope that Bruce Springsteen will have completely beaten his stomach ulcer by the summer of 2024.
