The big TV star of his time was rudely kicked: “Ruthless”

Noele “Nolly” Gordon’s story has been immortalized in a British mini-series. The British miniseries Nolly is based on true events, but some characters and events have been invented. This is stated right away in the opening words of the drama. When Nolly aired in the UK earlier this year, its creator Russell T Davies insisted that the series was largely an accurate depiction of what actually happened to soap star Noele “Nolly” Gordon (1919–1985). It’s all based on conversations Davies had with Gordon’s co-stars who are still alive. That’s what he said in an interview with Radio Times.
