Kate already wore the dress once in 2019. And there is a mystery surrounding it.
The story behind Duchess Kate’s dresses
Speculation has been going on about Duchess Kate’s ‘self-employed dressmaker’ for over a decade. The designer has been making the most beautiful creations for Kate for years, but has remained in anonymity all this time. Could it be Sarah Burton from fashion house Alexander McQueen? Or Natasha Archer, the woman responsible for the Duchess’s royal style makeover? It remains conjecture and is one of the best kept secrets of the royals.
Famous Duchess Kate dress
What we do know is that this person made the pastel poncho Kate first wore for a special royal moment. That was in 2019, when Prince Charles celebrated 50 years of holding the title Prince of Wales. Since then, the dress has been hanging in the closet and for this occasion in 2022 it was taken out again.
Garden parties at Buckingham Palace
Traditionally, Queen Elizabeth hosts three garden parties at Buckingham Palace each year in the run-up to the summer. During those afternoons, the people who have distinguished themselves in public services are celebrated. Due to mobility issues, Elizabeth had to cancel this year. Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla and Princess Anne have organized the first party. Prince William, Duchess Kate and a few other family members took care of the second party that took place on Wednesday.
The name Kate Middleton is still a household name in Great Britain (and also for us). But Middleton is no longer her last name. And actually her name is no longer Kate.
