The best spaces at CASA FOA 2023

It turned out to be a very favorable space. In the building of former Federal Tire, a rationalist construction from 1937, the 39th edition of Casa FOA was able to provide exhibitors with spacious and bright spaces. The result is a full sample of diverse proposals, in which trends and also the style of local talents intermingle. From September 15 to October 16the doors will be open at the largest design and decoration exhibition in the country.

A retro look

Among the trends that are intertwined in this edition, the retro spirit is a strong point. It can be seen, for example, in the “Boutique Hotel Bar” by C’est Moi, where the construction’s arches were the ideal setting to create an art deco universe, between velvet, curved furniture and impact chandeliers. Towards the end of the space, a floor-to-ceiling marble bar draws sighs.

This vintage aura is also breathed in the coworking designed by ACID, Marina Christe, Azul Gawianski and Manuela Ihan, an ode to color, neon and playful winks, as demonstrated by the bowling alley at the end of the space. “It is a tangible representation of the evolution of work culture, where innovation, the connection between people and comfort are essential,” describe its creators. The idea is that work and leisure should not be separated, but can coexist to drive more fluid productivity.

Enter to the WALL store It’s another trip through time. Nidolab was in charge of creating a seventies-style space for this gallery that seeks to democratize access to art, allowing the client to choose their creation and then transform it into a painting. The orange, the granite and the choice of pieces with a Bauhaus identity make you dream of an old record store (since the different options of works are displayed in that format).

The beauty of art deco is also illustrated in the bedroom with dressing room that Scatola Nera created, an environment as intimate as it is dramatic and sensual, with scenic and sculptural touches. Using materials such as glass, velvet, stone and wood, different areas were generated for different situations of use, but always leaving the gaze open to the entire space. And the greatest contrast occurs in the colors: while the rest area predominates in black and metallic details, in the dressing room light and warm tones reign.

Warm time

This edition was also characterized by creating warm shelters, spaces that propose pause and disconnection in the midst of the hyper-connected era. A good example is given by the color of the year, dictated by Alba: a place of affection, a tone within the pink palette (in line with Barbiecore but with more serenity). “Inspired by the softness of feathers and the subtleties of sunset clouds, the color of the year can bring a feeling of stability, calm and friendliness to our home and work environments,” the brand details.

The warmth is appreciated in the Modulus kitchen and home office, with clean lines, neutral colors and a minimalist aesthetic. “We wanted to achieve a stripped-down space where mental clarity and concentration are encouraged,” describe its creators. To do this, they fused classic design elements, such as boisserie, with functional hardware and new technologies. In the kitchen, the special area for coffee adds sophistication to another pleasure that invites you to relax. And a great idea for order: the panels used as cladding double as hidden storage.

And if something should always be a refuge from the world, it is the children’s room. An idea that is reflected in the children’s room created by the Fontenla team: Florencia Basile, Pampita, Oscar Gil and Gisela Beek. Fine woods and detailed craftsmanship predominate here, with furniture with clean and classic lines, but no less playful: the custom coat rack, the house-shaped bed, the slide and the climbing wall are some items that any boy covet

The meeting space of Diana Reisfeld It achieved this warmth through the prominence of mustard, gold and the “pied de poule” print. The addition of nature, another predominant trend in this edition, completes the idea.

Of Vanguard

2023 is also the year of technology and artificial intelligence. In the “coworking space” of María Beatriz González Zuelgaray and Bea Palacio, the focus was on generating a flexible environment that enhances creativity. It was achieved with different functional areas and emphasizing intelligent equipment, such as the latest generation ergonomic chairs, ergopads, footrests and adjustable monitor stands from Grupo (a)2. Another interesting point is the “bike chair”, a station with a bicycle, designed for working actively.

And the interactive space of Delight Studio sets the trend with its fusion of technology and art. Here materials come to life and purpose. Receive Alma, an acrylic canvas that surprises with a changing dance of lights based on the colors of the spectators. And once inside it, Ecos impacts with hundreds of bronze pieces that imitate the presence of those who stand in front of it. What results is a game and choreography between the work and the visitor. A good summary of what a visit to this edition of Casa FOA can result in.
