The best Rocky road

Rocky road is Christmas candy at its simplest. As soon as the chocolate is melted, we are already at the end.

At Christmas time, sweet treats are prepared in the kitchen to be wrapped in gift packages, for example.

You can practically put whatever you want in Rocky Road. I myself have ended up making it from scarcer raw materials with the ‘less is more’ principle.

I make Rocky Roads containing three to four ingredients just because this sweet confection has a clear flavor theme. Traditionally, Rocky road is loaded with goodies, such as marshmallows, candies, nuts, lacquers, cookies…

1. High-quality chocolate

You can use either plain dark or milk chocolate, white chocolate works too. In my opinion, the best Rocky road comes from a combo of milk and economic chocolate. But the key to everything is that the chocolate is of high quality and tastes good.

2. Nuts

Nuts bring the desired grit to Rocky road. Only the sky is the limit when it comes to nuts. Use salted nuts, roasted nuts or nuts as is. Try walnuts, pecans, peanuts, almonds or cashews – your favorite nut is just peanuts.

3. Marshmallows

Marshmallows are sold in mini form, and they fit Rocky road perfectly. The marshmallow Rocky road pieces are especially popular with children and those who like children.

4. Candies

You can use any of your favorite candies for this Christmas treat bomb. Personally, I always lean towards toffee, Laku and chocolate candies just because they are my favorites. No one is stopping you from flavoring your Christmas candy with bell peppers, marmalade or loose candies if you feel like it.

5. Cookies and salty snacks

Crumbed crackers and salty snacks, such as salted fish or pretzels, give Rocky road a delicious gritty texture and a salty twist. I recommend trying salted nuts or pretzels, the end result is charming!
