This is one of the reasons why we have been observing for years that the number of series productions is increasing from year to year. So that you don’t miss any highlights, TECHBOOK editor and streaming expert Marlene Polywka lists the most notable series starts in October across all streaming platforms.
Which series are worth watching in October?
If you want to watch all the series highlights these days, you need a lot of streaming services. The range is becoming increasingly diverse. The good thing about it is that all providers have recommended titles. Netflix has the crown when it comes to in-house productions, but Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and other providers also have originals or licensed titles from other channels on offer that are worth watching.

Lupine (Season 3) – from October 5th on Netflix
In October, Netflix subscribers can look forward to another season of the French crime series “Lupin”. In it, Omar Sy returns to the popular role of master thief Assane Diop. After clearing his father’s name, he immediately plans the next coup – of course telling the police that anything else would be boring. At the same time, he has to deal with powerful opponents in the background.
Loki (Season 2) – from October 6th on Disney+
The god of practical jokes is back! With “Loki,” one of the most popular Marvel series is entering a second round. After Loki – including various versions of himself – has fiddled with the different timelines, he now jumps between them uncontrollably. The reason for this is the explosion in the timeline that Loki’s version of Sylvie caused. How does Loki escape the time distortions? And what does main villain Kang have to do with it?
The Fall of the House of Usher (Season 1) – from October 12th on Netflix
The horror mastermind has one more project up his sleeve for Netflix before moving to Amazon. We’re talking about the new series “The Fall of the House of Usher.” Fans of the author Edgar Allan Poe should sit up and take notice of this title. In fact, it is a film adaptation of the short story of the same name. But instead of taking place in a medieval castle, the action was set in modern times. The focus is on themes such as family and madness. Patriarch Roderick Usher is confronted with his dark past and has to watch as his family dies cruelly one by one.
A Question of Chemistry (Season 1)
Elizabeth Zott is a passionate and talented scientist. However, this wasn’t necessarily well received in the 1950s – after all, women belonged in the kitchen. When she loses her job in a laboratory, she simply combines the two components. As the host of a cooking show, she brings viewers closer to cooking and the chemistry behind it.
Bodies (Season 1) – from October 19th on Netflix
The exciting new Netflix series “Bodies” also starts in October. In it, four investigators seemingly investigate the same murder case – in completely different times. Because the same body appears in both 1890 and 141, 2023 and 2053. Now the four have to find a way to solve the case – and somehow work together. The new series is based on a comic template that tells the four time levels in different styles; The series adaptation has copied this trick.
The Burning Girls (Season 1) – from October 19th on Paramount+
“The Burning Girls” is also a film adaptation of existing material. In keeping with the horror month of October, the new series delivers a story with a dark past, secrets and impressive, dark images. When Reverend Jack Brooks moves to Chapel Croft with her daughter, she hopes for a fresh start. But instead she comes across a strangely tense atmosphere and the story of two burnt girls from the 16th century who are said to be haunting the church.
Fear the Walking Dead (Season 8, Part 2) – from October 23rd on Prime Video
A big series will also come to an end in October: “Fear the Walking Dead”. After eight seasons, the successful spin-off of “The Walking Dead” is over. But fans of the franchise can already look forward to further spin-offs – including a series about Deryl and we find out what happens next with Rick and Michonne. In the finale of “Fear the Walking Dead” everything comes together: Will Madison see her daughter again and be able to build a new padre?
The Lions of Sicily (Season 1) – from October 25th on Disney+
In 19th century Italy, in Sicily, two brothers try to start a new spice business. They have to deal with all sorts of personal dramas and social differences. “The Lions of Sicily” is also based on a successful novel.
Fitzeks The Therapy (Season 1) – from October 26th on Prime Video
Sebastian Fitzek is of course well known to German crime fiction fans. Now his novel “Therapy” is being made into a series. The psychiatrist Viktor Larenz experiences every parent’s nightmare when his daughter Josy disappears without a trace. Years later, the man, who now lives in seclusion, meets a woman who reports a case that is shockingly similar to that of his daughter. However, the woman seems anything but stable…
Angelyne (Season 1) – October 28th on RTL+
In the 80s, an attractive blonde suddenly appears in pink on various advertising posters. But who is the woman and what is her story? The Peacock series is based on true events.
The Gilded Age (Season 2) – from October 30th on Sky/Wow
The HBO series “The Gilded Age” is also going into another round. The action is set in New York in the 1880s. The economy is booming, which means the gap between rich and poor continues to grow. In the midst of the burgeoning unrest, the series sheds light on the careers of various protagonists, from steelworks owners to activists.
