The best meatball comes from Klundert, Brabant dominates the ranking

If you want to taste the best meatball in the Netherlands, you can go to Keurslager Jongmans from Klundert. That was announced on Wednesday at the butcher’s fair in Utrecht. And the party in Brabant became even bigger: Keurslager De Jong from Gilze and Keurslager Ron de Kwant from Hank complete the top 3.

“The winning meatball has an authentic, traditional appearance and is beautifully round”, the jury explained its decision at the presentation at the Slavakto butcher’s fair. “In addition, the ball has the right balance of ingredients, so that the taste comes out well. It has a good bite and is technically perfectly finished. A fine example of craftsmanship.”

The winning butcher is overjoyed with the appreciation for his balls. “We succeeded again. In 2019 we also won this prize, last year we were in the top 10 and last April we were third with our spare ribs. We work hard for this with our team.”

Cut-throat competition
Less than a month ago, all submitted meatballs were tested by a professional jury, led by the Expertise Center for the Butcher’s Craft. And the competition was fierce, say the experts. “The balls that made it to the top 10 are all of high quality. Good taste and shape.”
