After the heavy rain on Friday evening, the Berlin fire brigade prepared for possible further storm operations.

The state of emergency weather was declared for about three hours on Friday evening in order to be able to mobilize sufficient forces in an emergency.

During this time there were almost 80 weather-related operations, as a spokesman said on Saturday. In most cases, therefore, private cellars had to be pumped out. Storm damage such as broken branches, on the other hand, was limited.

“It was quieter than expected, but we are prepared,” said the spokesman. After the weather had calmed down overnight, more heavy rain was possible on Saturday.

The thunderstorm had a greater impact, especially on their own evening planning, for fans of the rock band Die Ärzte and for those who were looking forward to the Staatsballett Berlin’s boat tour on the Spree. The tour was canceled, as was the doctors’ concert at Tempelhofer Feld.

After all: Two more concerts by the doctors are planned for the weekend. “The events on Saturday and Sunday will take place as planned according to the current status,” said the organizer.
