“Listen all y’all, it’s a sabotage!”
With this repetitive line, the Beastie Boys ate into synapses outside of the hip-hop world in 1994. Their legendary single, released on their fourth album ILL COMMUNICATION, together with their legendary video, finally turned what was supposed to be a party band into one of the most influential and top-notch white rap crews on the planet. So influential that the track was recently featured on the RBB radio station “Radio Eins” in a list of the 100 best hard rock and heavy metal songs (!).
In the video clip, the Beastie Boys, directed by Spike Jonze, parodied cops from the 70s. In exactly those outfits, Mike D, Ad Rock and MCA are now, almost 30 years later, also available as action figures. The company Super 7 presented them on Twitter on Monday:

This year the remaining Beastie Boys celebrated – rapper Adam “MCA” Yauch died on May 4th, 2012 as a result of cancer, the band then broke up – the 30th anniversary of their equally legendary album CHECK YOUR HEAD. In addition, a street corner in New York was recently officially renamed Beastie Boys Square. This is the corner that is also on the cover of their album PAUL’S BOUTIQUE.
