The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), which is responsible for the international doping investigation in athletics, has ruled To Mohamed Katir25, a two-year suspension.
The Spanish runner was previously suspended for giving false information about his whereabouts for doping tests three times.
Katir won silver in the 5,000 meters at the World Championships last summer in Budapest. In addition, he has European Championship silver from Munich 2022 and World Championship bronze for 1,500 meters from Eugene from the same year.
The punishment given now ends on February 6, 2026. Katir already said after the first news that he would appeal the decision. Spanish magazine Marcan according to which he can appeal first to the AIU and then to the International Court of Appeal for Sport, Cas.
