The Asser athlete Jorinde van Klinken has improved the Dutch indoor shot put record to 19.57 meters in the United States.

The 23-year-old Van Klinken, who is a member of Groningen Athletics, took bronze in the shot put at the European Championships in Munich last year. The Drenthe came to a distance of 19.57 meters in the American Albuquerque. That is 9 centimeters further than Jessica Schilder performed last year at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade.

A few weeks later, she won the European title in Munich, by being the first Dutch woman to throw the shot over 20 meters outdoors (20.24). Van Klinken finished third there with 18.94.
