Apart from a birds of prey show that Puy du Fou holds in France, Kleve also gives another example. “They have recreated a Colosseum there. There you have a show with horses and actors. Those horses, there is enthusiasm in them. And the show is made with people who are in the audience, but those people are also actors. the audience a whole spectacle. There is no roller coaster involved. It is real entertainment and spectacle.”
Alderman Klaas de Vries has also taken a look in France. “I thought it was fantastic. It is an immersion in the history of a country. That is something that really appeals to me. And the fact that it is not flat entertainment, but also has an educational aspect.”
It is not yet certain whether the park will actually come to Meppel. Negotiations and investigations are still ongoing, but the alderman is confident.
Kleve can only recommend it: “We already have a very beautiful landscape in terms of amusement parks. Puy du Fou is an extension of that. If Puy du Fou wants to do this together with the municipality, I would embrace this. If you see what is happens with hotel accommodations and tourism around the park in France, then that is very interesting for the region.”
