The family history of the rock musician leads to 18th century Turku.
Known as the bowman of Hanoi Rocks Michael Monroe seen on the MTV3 channel My family’s salad series. People familiar with the public will be able to explore what is hidden under the branches of the family tree.
Monroe got to know his 18th-century influential ancestor.
– Jakob Gadolin was bishop of Turku and a quadruple professor. He was a very smart and alert guy. He was also kind-hearted and cared about the needy, Monroe describes.

Monroe was born and raised in Helsinki, but now lives in Turku. According to the rock musician, fate has a reason why the road has led him back to Turku.
– Jakob has been a significant figure that people have greeted on the street, a bit like the gang does to me in Turku today, Michael laughs.
Known as a clergyman, Jakob was interested in the natural sciences, but according to the man, not all things could be explained by reason.
Jakob had lived near Turku Cathedral, where Michael was able to visit with the film crew.
– This was a mind-blowing experience. There was a feeling that it has a reason why I ended up living in Turku after all these years.

Monroe is celebrating its 60th birthday in June. A new album is coming soon I Live Too Fast to Die Youg. The first gigs are scheduled to take place in Finland in April.
– The sound of the band was renewed in a really good way. It’s new, in terms of songs, arrangements, and production, the musician reveals.
There is also a documentary about Monroe that is being directed Pete Eklund and Jussi Lähteenmäki. The documentary has received a development grant of EUR 25,000 from the Finnish Film Foundation in October 2020.
– It’s going to be a good documentary. That can be done once in a lifetime. He (Eklund) has a good vision, Monroe says.
