In a few days the starting gun will sound in the Olympic Stadium for the 47th edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. A competition in which the necessary international and national top athletes always participate. The most notable names appeared at the press conference in the Rijksmuseum on Thursday. “I’m going for it on Sunday,” said Khalid Choukoud.
The top athletes will do everything they can on Sunday to set a top time. Not only for their own statistics, but also to dive under the Olympic limit of 2.08.10. The Olympic Games are on the agenda again next summer.
Choukoud
Khalid Choukoud is participating in the Amsterdam marathon for the fifth time. And he often ran successfully in the capital, as he won the national title three times. This year, he is focused on that limit for Paris 2024. “It is a very tight time, but I am going to do everything I can. I really want to go to Paris.” Choukoud’s personal record is 2:09:34.

Holterman vs Luijten
In the women’s race, eyes will be focused on Jill Holterman from Egmond aan den Hoef (pr: 2.28.18) and Anne Luijten (pr: 2.30.59) on Sunday. Both athletes also really want to go to the Olympic Games in Paris. Three tickets can be distributed for the Dutch athletes provided they reach the limit of 2.26.50. Sifan Hassan is already sure of Paris, and Nienke Brinkman will probably also take one these months, then there will be one left. Holterman and Luijten preyed on the last ticket. “The marathon is such a tough distance that it is mainly between me and the distance and the same applies to Jill,” says Luijten in the Rijksmuseum. “And it’s only nice if we can help each other along the way.”
