marisa Cantarelli will receive the Ambrogino d’oro, the prize for personalities who make the city great with their work and life, on Thursday 7 December in Milan.
Born in Milan in 1930, Marisa Cantarelli became a professional nurse in the 1950s. Soon, as he also says on his website cantarellimarisa.itfeels the dissatisfaction of carrying out the profession taking care only to carry out every intervention quickly and well, without paying attention to the patient to whom he is treating, or to his needs.
The idea of a new method takes shape and takes shape when in 1969 the School for Professional Nursing opens in Magenta and then in 1975 she became deputy director of the Nursing University School of the State University of Milan. Its approach aims to clearly define the competencies and responsibilities of the nurse, both specific ones and those shared with the doctor. This also led to the introduction of the nursing record, an integral part of the patient’s medical record.
This model has changed the way we interact with patients: his theory, exposed in Nursing performance model, focuses on how the patient is assisted, not so much what is done. A text that is still used today in the training of professionals and places it as the first theory of nursing. Cantarelli has given impetus to the path that has led professionals to the degree. The same one that she receives Honoris Causa in 2013 from the University of Milan, the fourth woman ever in the city.
