Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Prystaiko clarified his words about the refusal of NATO membership

Earlier, answering a question from a BBC journalist whether Kiev was ready to give up membership in the bloc in order to prevent a war, the Ukrainian ambassador said: “We could, especially under threat, we might be pushed to do so.” The Ambassador noted the “flexibility” of Ukraine in the search for the best solution.
After that, the press secretary of President Vladimir Zelensky, Sergei Nikiforov, demanded that Prystaiko explain his words. He recalled that Ukraine’s desire to join NATO is enshrined in the Constitution.
Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko declared RBC-Ukraine that Prystaiko’s words about Ukraine’s readiness to refuse membership in the alliance were taken out of context.
