The alleged rapist of the woman who threw her baby into a trash can in Bisbal d’Empordà has been arrested

Agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Girona have arrested a man as the alleged rapist of the woman who threw her newborn baby into a trash can in Bisbal d’Emporda. This is a 39-year-old man with a police record.

The Mossos opened an investigation on January 2 after a municipal sweeper located the body of a dead baby in a trash can located in the center of the town. The little one still had the umbilical cord.

As a result of these investigations, the agents managed to identify the mother, as advanced by ‘Diari de Girona’, media outlet of the Prensa Ibérica group. The woman, about 20 years old, stated that The pregnancy was the result of rape and the baby was already born dead. The first results of the autopsy of the newborn support the version given by the young woman. Thus, they point out that before delivery, the baby was no longer alive and was therefore born dead, according to investigation sources. However, some results are still missing to confirm this hypothesis.

With the information the woman gave them, the agents identified the alleged perpetrator of the sexual assault. The detainee allegedly attacked the woman a few months ago and was finally arrested this Thursday.
