The president of FC Barcelona highlighted the work of the Group in the Annual Sopar

He was excited to see Belletti among the attendees: “You gave us the second European Cup”

The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, assured this Friday at the Annual Sopar of the FC Barcelona Players’ Association that it is “a pride to be here” and he has put himself at the service of the former players for whatever they need. He has also commented that “The Agrupació helps to understand why Barça is more than a club, because behind each player there is a story of loyalty”.

Laporta arrived around 10:30 p.m. from the Palau Blaugrana, where he witnessed a victory for the basketball team in the Euroleague. He entered the room accompanied by the FC Barcelona anthem, the 125th anniversary, and demonstrated his charisma by greeting a good number of tables, making a very emotional stop to the one occupied by the pioneers.

“Congratulations on the challenges achieved this year,” said Laporta to the president of the Agrupació, Juan Manuel Asensi. “If next year we make 125 years it is thanks to you, so, in everything we can help, the club will be here, at your side”.

Emotional words for Belletti

Laporta was moved when he remembered some of the former players who were present at the evening, such as Belletti. “I’m excited to see you here, you gave us the second European Cup in 2006.” He also had a message for the pioneers: “It’s a pleasure to see them, always with great drive and desire to participate”.

He also referred to women’s football, commented on Alexia and Aitana’s Golden Balls and assured that “we want to provide a solution to all the needs you have because it requires special treatment. We are proud to have the women’s football that we have.”

He commented on Asensi that “he is a fantastic person, we understand each other very well, he has a big heart, pride, perseverance, he never gives up… The Group is in good hands“.

“A great legacy”

For his part, Juan Manuel Asensi, president of the Agrupació, reviewed the year he has been in office, highlighting the series of podcasts made with different former players. In any case, Asensi shied away from the limelight and assured that “we have a great legacy and we work to improve it. Our idea is to leave the mission with triumphs because we want the Group to be the best in the world“.

Regarding women’s football, he assured that “they are a very important group within the Agrupació and we want to make an agreement to regulate some issues. You can count on us for anything. The doors of the Agrupació are open to everyone”.

Asensi thanked Laporta for all the help received this time: “When I became president, Jan told me not to worry, that he would give us everything we needed.. And so it has been. I only have words of gratitude for him and his board of directors.”
