Lmy generation has traveled a lot. Attracted by the most exotic itineraries and the less traveled roads, she followed the demon of discovery by getting on broken buses or facing daring hitchhiking.

A swarm of boys passed through villages he hadn’t read about in school booksthe famous taste for adventure was not yet protected by saving mobile phones and low cost airplanes and our parents relied only on the saint on duty to propitiate our return home.

When years later we read the beautiful book by Tiziano Terzani A soothsayer told me it seemed absolutely normal to us that a journalist, to respect the prophecy of a Chinese fortune-teller, had decided to travel for a whole year without ever taking a plane, moving only by land and sea.

Terzani was the king of travelers, the man who elected curiosity and passion to existential ideals; he was our mentor, an older brother who revealed us the secrets to live better and ultimately also those to die better, if ever this is possible.

We loved and respected him but never as much Angela Terzani Staude, his lifelong companion. I had the pleasure of meeting her with Titian, the first opportunity in an evening full of enthusiasm at the Ambra Jovinelli theater to bring the reasons for peace.

The war then was the one against Iraq, but today as then the pacifists were frowned upon and it is a shame not to be able to enjoy Titian’s words now in the face of this latest conflict.

“The age of enthusiasm. My life with Tiziano “by Angela Terzani Staude (Longanesi)

Angela with discretion and competence continues to keep the memory of the great journalistalways with that grace and profound lightness that characterized his life and his beautiful books to which a new work is added in these days: The age of enthusiasm. My life with Tiziano (Longanesi).

Telling forty years of life together is not an easy task, especially when it comes to the eventful existence of two slightly rebellious young people who decide to challenge every convention and give free rein to their many passions, first of all that of travel. .
