On Thursday, May 26, 2022, the ABOUT YOU Awards, one of the largest and most relevant international award shows for social media and Gen Z, took place. The stage for the international debut of the ABOUT YOU Awards 2022 this year was the fashion metropolis of Milan, which presented a world-class show. Internationally celebrated VIPs, exclusive guests and the most influential content creators from all over Europe followed the show hosted by NikkieTutorials on site and let their community participate in numerous special moments via social media. The ABOUT YOU Awards 2022 thus reached over 652 million social media contacts one week after the event (calculation of true reach: 10 percent of the number of followers per content creator x the number of publications).
The fashion online shop brought together the most relevant and influential content creators from all over Europe. The ABOUT YOU Awards recognize personalities who stand up for important social issues, take a clear stance, move people and shape society for their relevant content. With its international orientation and a consistent social first approach, ABOUT YOU is going one step further this year: “Over the past six years, the ABOUT YOU Awards have established themselves as the largest and most relevant content creator awards in Germany. Now it is time to internationalize the ABOUT YOU Awards and thus also increase the relevance in our focus countries. From now on, the ABOUT YOU Awards will take place in a new European country every year! The ABOUT YOU Awards have never been so international and never before has such a large international community been able to take part – an award show by the community for the community,” says Julian Jansen, Content Director at ABOUT YOU.
With an innovative concept, the fashion online shop rethought the genre “Award Show” and demonstrated a pioneering spirit again this year. The decentralized design of the location not only enabled constant transformation over the entire area of the venue, which was adapted to the needs of the 1,500 exclusively invited guests, but also gave the show a unique get-together character.
Both the pre-event with a two-and-a-half-hour experience time and the award ceremony with the subsequent after-show party merged into one 7,000 square meter experience area, which always had special moments ready for the guests. The focal point of the venue was a large LED cube, which transmitted the award ceremony in every direction and could therefore be followed from anywhere on the floor without the guests being tied to fixed seats.
The evening’s star guests were model Karolína Kurková and digital entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni with her sisters Valentina and Francesca and her husband Fedez, Ester Expósito, and Elisabetta Canalis. But also numerous other international VIPs and relevant content creators – such as the Italian fashion blogger Chiara Biasi, the German male model Toni Mahfud, NBA basketball star Dennis Schröder, the American model and content creator Luka Sabbat, the German-speaking rapper Loredana, the German young designer Achraf from the brand 6PM, the former Icelandic professional soccer player Rúrik Gíslason, the German TikToker Younes Zarou, the Italian content creator and model Mariano Di Vaio, the German model and content creator Stefanie Giesinger, the German actor and musician Emilio Sakraya Moutaoukkil, Greek content creator Christina Bompa, actor and YouTuber Paulo Borges and German actress Gizem Emre and many more provided special moments on the red carpet and shared their experiences with their community via social media. .
