The 5th preliminary round starts with Arleen Schüßler, Christian Balkheimer, Lukas Kilian and Co.

In a direct duel at Ninja Warrior Germany Allstars, a total of 160 ninjas fight for the title, which Kim Marschner was able to secure in the premiere season. On Sunday (8:15 p.m. on RTL, RTL+ and im sport.de ticker) is the fifth and final preliminary round show. We look at the duels, the course and the rules.

As with the premiere last year, all five preliminary rounds begin with 16 duels man against man or woman against woman.

  • In the second round, the 16 duel winners will compete against each other in eight duels on a different doubles course.
  • The eight victorious ninjas then compete in four final duels at the Power Tower. In the end, there are three men and one woman who make it into the final show.
  • There is one exception on Sunday: The fourth episode is a men-only edition, there are no women.

One thing is clear: Only the winners of the duel advance, there are no second chances for those who lose. Anyone who touches the water in the course has to end their run and is eliminated if their opponent makes it further. It does not always have to be buzzed to move into the next round.

However, if you want to hope for extra prize money, you have to finish the course. In each preliminary round show, the fastest first round run will be rewarded with 5,000 euros for the first time – so speed pays off twice in this season. Whoever is at the top of the finals at the end of the show also wins 50,000 euros.

Ninja couple and generation duel in the course

The evening starts with a comeback: Nach Benedict Sigmund had to cancel his participation in the last regular NWG relay at short notice due to a foot injury, he is back on the TV course with Allstars – and thanks to the course in his home garden, he is well prepared. In the first duel he meets muscle Mark Degebrodtwho made it to the semifinals in Season 6.

Benni’s girlfriend Arleen Schuessler also performs later in the show. The former Last Woman Standing competes with Ninja League co-founder Isabel Sabellek. Both duel partners want to rehabilitate themselves with a view to the last Allstars season: the two athletes were eliminated in season 1 in the first round, and Arleen has not pressed the buzzer since winning the title.

Also “Clucky Luke” Luke Killian does not have the best memories of the last Allstars season: the ambitious ex-soldier surprisingly also failed in his first duel after hitting his head and now wants to do better. His opponent in the first duel is a vaulter Viktor Bruesewitz.

The duel between Casimir Meyer and Eckhard Weiss is particularly special due to the age difference between the two duel partners: the two ninjas separate a whole 30 years. The 50-year-old Weiss was one of the surprises of the last regular season with his entry into the semifinals. He not only convinced the moderator trio, but also the people at home. “The whole village is now a fan of the show,” says Ecki, whose wife Mimi is there to help. Who will win the seemingly unequal first duel?

Heavyweights in a duel

The Swiss also has a strong debut in Season 6 Sandro Scheibler laid down. The 21-year-old is one of the candidates for the last final tickets that are still awarded in the fifth preliminary round. His opponent in the first round is the 27-year-old Christopher von Stelzer from Herzogenaurach, who starts as an outsider.

The clash of “Ninja-Hulk” falls into the heavyweight duel category Ali Moussa and “Super Mario Ninja” Christian Balkheimer: The two experienced ninjas each weigh about 90 kilos and prove that this does not have to be an obstacle in the course. As an additional motivation, Ali also has an ultrasound image of his unborn baby with him in addition to his son Ilias. Chris, meanwhile, has recovered from a broken fibula last year and is able to pull through again on the Allstars course. Where are you headed for the NWG evergreen?

Ivo Rupena was in the finals of the 3rd regular Ninja season 2018 before. His girlfriend Katrin also supports him from the edge of the course. Both have been together for almost a year and do dance sport and acrobatics together. Ivo says: “Handling has always been my weak point, so I have to go for speed”. His first duel partner is the 25-year-old Igor Maksimovic.

Those are the obstacles

The first round of duels starts with the arrow jump leading to the swinging spoke with pendulum trunk. Whoever then overcomes the hanging baskets has a balancing obstacle in front of them with the chaos balls. After that, only the ring hunt separates the ninjas from the wall on which the buzzer is standing.

The second duel round starts with the surfboards. The springs then lead to the Hangel pick-up ball, which is followed by the snap. Anyone who has mastered this course then, like every week, has to go up the chimney to buzz. Whoever manages to do this will fight in the final duel at the Power Tower in round three for a place in the final.
