1. La Bombonera.
The stadium of Maradona’s club Boca Juniors, located in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. The 57,200 Boca Juniors fans present make it a party every week with bells, balloons and confetti. La Bombonera, chocolate drum in Spanish, owes its name to the vertical stands on the long side, making the stadium a kind of rectangle. However, since 2013, away fans have not been allowed in all stadiums in Argentina, following a riot that resulted in a death. A football trip to Boca Juniors is a big trip but we think it is definitely worth it.

2. Signal Iduna Park.
The stadium of ‘Die Borussen Die Schwarzgelben’, Borussia Dortmund, is just a 3-hour drive from Amsterdam. With a capacity for 81,000 people, it is the third largest stadium in Europe. Borussia Dortmund plays fast, fanatical and attractive football here, accompanied by the loud singing of the ‘Gelbe Wand’. The ideal destination for a football trip within Europe.
3. Celtic Park.
The stadium of Roman Catholic club Celtic, based in Glasgow. This stadium, opened in 1892(!), is still one of the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom with a seating capacity of 60,832. There is a magical atmosphere here during matches in European competitions, especially when the entire stadium sings along loudly to “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. The Old Firm is also not a bad match to attend. Every year the match against Celtic’s biggest rival Glasgow Rangers is a great spectacle with fierce tackles and fanatical supporters.
4. Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
This newly renovated stadium is home to one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid. After the renovation it will have room for 85,000 spectators, or ‘Madridistas’ as they call themselves. Every season the best players in the world can be admired in this impressive stadium. After the renovation, the stadium looks ultra-modern and the roof of the stadium can be opened and closed. In our opinion, one of the most beautiful football stadiums in the world.
5. Anfield.
The stadium of ‘The Reds’, located on the River Mersey in Liverpool. The stadium with an incredible amount of history, such as the brilliant comeback against Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League in the 2018-2019 season. Liverpool lost the first leg 3-0, which seemed impossible. Liverpool won 4-0 at home under the watchful eye of the fanatic crowd at Anfield Road and went on to win the final against Tottenham Hotspur. The most important match for the ‘Scousers’ every year is the match against Everton, the football club just 1.4 kilometers away. Highly recommended to attend.
