Formula 1 | Horner on Verstappen: “Don’t think there is a driver who…”

The 2023 Formula 1 season has long since become Max Verstappen’s one-man show. Quite a few believe that the material helps the two-time world champion to drive the competition into the ground. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner sees it differently.

Won 12 of 14 races, 145 points ahead in the world championship standings and broke Sebastian Vettel’s victory record: There is no question that Max Verstappen is in a class of his own in the 2023 Formula 1 season. The soon-to-be three-time world champion is in his own league and looks set to win some of the last eight races of the year.

It is difficult to understand how large a proportion of Verstappen’s driving skills are in the crazy run – and how large a proportion of the material is. After all, it’s no secret that the Red Bull is by far the best car in the field.

Verstappen can extend Formula 1 record

However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner is convinced that Verstappen’s extraordinary series is solely due to the driver. “Max is currently in a phase of his career where he is simply untouchable,” said Horner before the Singapore Grand Prix.

“I don’t think there is a driver in the field who would achieve what Max achieves in this car,” Horner is convinced that it is the qualities of the Dutchman and not those of the car that make the difference. The Formula 1 world is currently witnessing a talent that only exists every few generations, Horner praised his top driver.

At the Singapore Grand Prix next weekend, the Dutchman is chasing his eleventh victory of the season in a row. In Monza, Verstappen recently celebrated his tenth success in a row and thus set a new Formula 1 record.
