They recently announced a concert break starting in April – they want to use this for the new record.
The 1975 are currently touring Europe as part of their “Still… At Their Very Best” tour. At their Birmingham concert on Wednesday February 21st, frontman Matty Healy revealed that the band are currently working on a new album. He sang a short teaser of a song on site. The all-clear at The 1975: No farewell forever
This news comes as both a surprise and a relief to the group’s fans. In September, Healy announced that The 1975 would be taking an “indefinite break” from live performances when the current tour ends in Amsterdam on March 24th. He now picked up on this moment again and mentioned the fans’ fear that the band would “disappear for an eternity” – and gave the all-clear.
“We’re working on a new record right now,” he explained, before playing a short snippet of a new track from his phone. He continued: “I guess I can’t work without my friends… we’re kind of The 1975.” Healy concluded: “We’ll go away and – hopefully – make a good new album. I just don’t know what to do in the meantime, really.”
