That’s why the promotional tour in Australia failed

FC Bayern’s planned trip to Australia before the summer break will not take place. The organizer is now reporting on the background to why the record champion’s visit was canceled.

As the “Bild” reported on Monday, FC Bayern’s promotional tour to Australia will not take place. It was planned that Munich should play a game against an all-star team from the A-League after the season. The game should take place on June 2nd (local time).

The General Manager of the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), Danny Townsend, has now announced further details of how this cancellation came about.

“The longer the talks with FC Bayern went on, the shorter our sales window to promote the game became. We had to make a decision. So we sat down with Bayern and made one. It was great to negotiate with them, but in the end we couldn’t agree,” he said.

The talks between FC Bayern and the APL for the game were now well advanced. According to information from the newspaper “Sydney Morning Herald”, the first advertising trailers with Bayern players promoting the game have already been shot.

Bayern’s trip fails because of money

The reason why the game will not take place is financial. The match was to be played on the eve of the Australian Football League finals. The problem: The organizer had not provided any money for the show event.

Because of this, the game had to be funded by the New South Wales government. According to the report, FC Bayern was looking for an amount of four to five million euros. This money was not approved by the newly elected government.

So the summer break for FC Bayern will probably start right after the last day of the Bundesliga match. The advertising trip to Australia is cancelled.

After the Munich band return from their summer break, they will do a promotional tour in Asia at the end of July and beginning of August.
