A growth made of aluminum that is more than eight meters tall is currently standing at the Kulturforum. We reveal the blossoming secret behind the promotion.
Art flourishes at the Kulturforum. A huge rose in front of the New National Gallery advertises the exhibition “75/75” by the artist Isa Genzken (74), which opens there on July 13.
The 8.25 meter high aluminum work is the fourth version of the famous Genzken rose, which the artist first created in 1993. The “Rose IV” dates from 2016 and has been updated for this show.
A total of five people spent two days assembling the object, which weighs around 646 kilograms and consists of six individual parts. The rose is protected from the wind by being anchored in a steel construction beam weighing three tons.
The exhibition in the New National Gallery shows 75 important works from Isa Genzken’s 50-year career. Schau and Rose can be seen until the end of November.
