Slash will not be performing any Guns N’ Roses songs on his upcoming solo tour. Because his joint project with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators now offers more than enough full-length material. On February 11, 2022, the musicians will release their fourth album together with “4”.
Things were different when Slash was just getting started with the Conspirators. Back then, Guns N’ Roses didn’t make music together anymore, and the guitarist missed the songs from back then. “I have to admit, I really missed playing the Guns material when this thing started,” Slash says in an interview with “Ultimate classic rock“. “So it was a great opportunity for me [auch Songs von Guns N‘ Roses live zu spielen].”
“I don’t really have to do this with Myles and Company”
However, that need was satisfied after the Guns N’ Roses reunion in 2016. “But after I came back with all my buddies at Guns, after a while I was like, ‘I don’t really have to do this with Myles and Company,’ so we don’t have any Guns songs in the set. But I have to admit that I miss the occasional Velvet Revolver song. I haven’t included any Velvet songs in the set as of yet, but I might do one at some point, just for the fun of it.”
While Guns N’ Roses’ seemingly endless reunion tour fills stadiums, slash concerts with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators are more relaxed. The audience is smaller and the guitarist doesn’t want to do without that anymore. “We have no illusions about our size. We’re not trying to be the most successful band in the world,” he says of the Conspirators. “We just like to go out on stage and play. And that’s how it’s worked all along.”
A “very relaxed band”
The guitarist adds, “But we’ve built quite a following and at this point we’ve got our own thing going. But that doesn’t really change the way we approach it. So it’s a very chilled band.”
Meanwhile, Slash also announced that the upcoming album with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators is “the best yet”. “We’re showing no signs of slowing down,” adds the guitarist.
