That’s why Steve Harwell is said to be dying

Steve Harwell, the former singer of the alternative band Smash Mouth, is said to have not long to live. Allegedly, family members have already said goodbye to the 56-year-old. Harwell’s severe alcohol and drug abuse have now become his undoing.

Harwell became a pop star with Smash Mouth’s All Star

In the early 2000s, the band Smash Mouth had a hit with “All Star.” The song reached number one on the US Billboard chart and has been featured in films such as Shrek (2001). There was even a Broadway musical adaptation of All Star in 2019. The song made Smash Mouth a cult band. However, fame is said to have had an impact on singer Steve Harwell’s health, according to celebrity magazine TMZ.

Harwell had been struggling with his alcohol and drug addiction for a long time. At a concert in 2021, the singer even freaked out on stage and is said to have yelled at the audience. Before that, he already seemed heavily intoxicated and slurred throughout the entire gig. Shortly thereafter, Harwell left the band and retired from the music world.

Harwell received medical treatment several times for cirrhosis of the liver. Heart disease, heart failure and a disorder in the singer’s brain were also causes for concern. But now his condition is so critical that doctors have given him no more than a week to live. Harwell is currently at home and it seems that friends and family have already said goodbye to him.
