That’s why newcomer Aning is absent from the training camp

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has signed another promising young player in Prince Aning. The Dutchman also impressed promptly in the first few weeks of BVB’s preparations. But the 18-year-old is not in the training camp, head coach Edin Terzic clarified.

Prince Aning can certainly count himself among the winners of the first part of Borussia Dortmund’s preparation. The youngster scored his first goal in the black and yellow jersey in BVB’s hard-fought friendly opener against Lüner SV (3-1), after which he received special praise from coach Edin Terzic.

“That was very good,” said the old and new Borussia coach. Aning “got attention with his first goal”. In the 2-0 win over Dynamo Dresden, Aning was back in Borussia’s starting XI, but was substituted at half-time. In the 5-0 win against SC Verl, he was even allowed to play for 60 minutes and score the penalty to make the final score. In all three games, the winger signed by Ajax Amsterdam was one of the most active in the BVB squad.

“The youngster is a lot of fun because he has this genius on the ball, the courage to keep going into action,” Terzic added further praise after the thrashing of Verl. Nevertheless, he made the decision not to take Prince Aning to the senior team’s training camp in Bad Ragaz.

Aning needs the necessary competitive toughness

After a good two and a half weeks with the pros, the 18-year-old has to join the U23 team. For the third division team, he was initially committed. Terzic reasoned to “Ruhr news” the step with the fact that you “still feel your way around a few topics” and “still have to improve a lot”.

Above all, there is still a considerable lack of the necessary competitive toughness at Aning. “Stability for senior football” is now the motto for the new signing. But: Should there be an unexpected bottleneck in the squad at the training camp in Switzerland, Prince Aning could follow, according to the regional newspaper.
