That’s why Marius Wolf kept his heart surgery secret

At the end of 2022, Borussia Dortmund international Marius Wolf underwent heart surgery. The BVB professional still has after-effects of the surgery, including positive ones.

“I think when you’ve had something like that, you can listen to your body even more closely, because then you also pay attention to things that you didn’t pay attention to before. It’s something that stays in your head, so maybe you can open it too hears a lot of things, but I see it as something good, I can feel my body even better,” said Wolf in an interview with the “schwatzgelb.de” fanzine.

Before the operation, before which he was plagued by cardiac arrhythmia, he was “a bit uneasy,” Wolf admitted, “even if you hear they’ve done it 100 times and 99 percent with good results. But Just this one percent and it’s your heart – of course you’re already thinking about the negative things, especially just before that”.

“I was happy when I woke up and the doctors talked to me. They said it went quickly and went well,” added the 27-year-old, who quickly found his full potential again after the operation and extended permanent staff of BVB counts.

BVB: That’s why Marius Wolf kept quiet about his heart surgery

Wolf only went public with the news of the surgery months later – quite deliberately, as he described: “First of all, I didn’t want everyone to know – apart from the people who work with me and my family. You don’t know , how you feel about it, or what happens after an operation like that. It might have been that I needed a longer break, or it might have been something else.”

The BVB professional explained: “It can also be the case with such interventions that you have to do it not just once, but twice or three times, because you couldn’t localize the problem area. That’s why we said that we’d only deal with the issue keep calm for a moment and I can concentrate on myself and get well again, so that I can go back to training with peace of mind.”
