That’s why Gavi didn’t want to go to Bayern

In the course of the search for personnel for the new season, FC Bayern also set their sights on the Spanish shooting star Gavi from FC Barcelona. Ultimately, however, there was no change. Now it has been revealed why the deal failed.

Gavi celebrated his 18th birthday just a few weeks ago, but the midfield youngster at FC Barcelona is already an integral part of the professional squad. The noble technician played 47 (!) games last season for the Catalans, who suddenly had hope again.

Shortly after Gavi’s first appearances, rumors arose about FC Bayern’s interest in the teenager. Now it has been revealed how concrete the advances of the German record champions actually were.

In his podcast “Bavaria Insiders“Bild” football boss Christian Falk revealed that the Munich side had indeed contacted the management of the exceptional talent. The opportunity seemed good, after all Gavi’s current contract expires in 2023.

Problem: The ten-time Spanish senior international really wants to go to Qatar with Furia Roja for the Winter World Cup and apparently feared that the game at Bayern would not be as good. So there was no change.

Because of Gravenberch: Bayern’s interest gone?

It’s likely now that Gavi will extend his contract at Barcelona. A hefty salary increase should go hand in hand. Possible exit clauses should then be in the three-digit million range to deter interested parties such as FC Bayern.

In any case, it is unclear whether the Bundesliga giant would dare to make another advance. Another promising midfield jewel has now been signed in Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutchman only scored his first competitive goal in an FCB jersey on Wednesday.
