That’s why Drake has to testify at the XXXTentacion murder trial

The murder trial of the American rapper and singer XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy), which has been going on since 2018, continues: Now rapper Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) has to testify at the end of February about an old social media feud. The defence, a lawyer for the previously accused perpetrators, did this.

Why Drake is in court: Alternative theory emerged

The American ROLLING STONE has one court order received, filed by attorney Mauricio Padilla, defense attorney for Dedrick Williams. Williams is one of the three murder suspects, but along with the other two suspects Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome, has pleaded not guilty to the first degree murder.

Padilla has now brought the Canadian rapper and an alleged feud with Onfroy into the case as a possible alternative theory to the murder.

After attempting to subpoena Graham at the end of January 2023, he was duly subpoenaed but did not appear for the affidavit. As a result, Padilla has now applied to the court for an “evidence warrant,” which the judge granted on Thursday, February 9th.

According to the court order, Drake must appear for questioning on February 24, 2023.

Drake vs. XXXTentacion: The Feud and Its History

Padilla’s arguments refer to an alleged feud between the two musicians. Specifically, he cited a February 2018 social media post by Onfroy, which said: “If anyone tried to kill me, it was @champagnepapi [so heißt Drake auf Instagram].” However, Onfroy subsequently deleted that post and wrote, “Please stop sharing this bullshit on Twitter,” explaining the post with, “My accounts have been hacked.”

Has XXXTentacion been disappointed for a long time?

As the American ROLLING STONE reports, lawyer writes padilla in a document, that the feud is said to have started back in 2017: First, a friend reportedly told Onfroy that Drake liked his music and was interested in meeting and helping him while Onfroy was in prison for abusing his pregnant girlfriend . However, the rap star never made contact, and Onfroy’s “feelings towards Drake started to take a negative turn.”

Then, in March 2017, the 36-year-old released “KMT,” and Onfroy allegedly managed to hear the song while he was still in custody. He “immediately believed Drake had stolen his song,” according to the lawsuit. Because: “The cadence of the rap style and the rhythm of the song are extremely similar in every respect and have led many to believe that Graham actually stole important aspects of the song from Onfroy.”

XXXTentacion’s mother worried about fight?

When Onfroy was released from prison at the time, the dispute is said to have escalated. For example, Onfroy posted posts about Drake’s mother, a photo of a look-alike with cum on his face, and the tweet “If someone tries to kill me.”

The argument is said to have gone so far that Onfroy’s mother (according to the document) had concerns about her son’s feuding with Drake. In the affidavit, Bernard then said she asked one of Onfroy’s relatives to accompany him to the motorcycle workshop on the day of his death “because of the ongoing argument with Drake and Migos”.
