A new episode of Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, the podcast hosted by late night show Conan O’Brien, was released on Wednesday (March 22). This time, Coldplay singer Chris Martin was a guest and the two talked about what keeps the band together, how he prepares for a stadium show – and why he doesn’t eat a meal after 4 p.m., among other things.
When asked by O’Brien if Martin sometimes dines with the greatest musicians of our time — Bono, Michael Stipe, Paul McCartney — and what he learned from them, Martin replies, “I never actually dine.” He adds, laughing, “I stop eating at 4 p.m. and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen.”
The 46-year-old musician explained, “I was lucky enough to have lunch with him the day after we performed in Philadelphia last year. I was on a very strict diet anyway. But I was like, ‘Bruce looks even fitter than me,’ and Patti [Springsteens Ehefrau, Anm. d. Red.] said he only eats one meal a day. I thought, ‘Well, it’s okay. That’s my next challenge’.”
Martin and O’Brien then joked about what that one meal a day might be – and the Coldplay singer ended up suggesting “buffalo flank with a steroid sauce”. Last year Chris Martin had to cancel eight concerts of her “Music of the Spheres” tour because singer Chris Martin fell ill with pneumonia.
