Teemu Suninen drives the Finnish and Estonian World Rally Championship with a Hyundai Rally1 car. Hyundai confirmed the expected news on Friday.
Suninen replaces the one who died in a test accident in April in the Korean team by Craig Breen. In addition, the Finn will be responsible for the development of Hyundai’s Rally1 and WRC2 cars. The rest of Suninen’s World Cup program will be announced later.
In previous seasons, Suninen has driven for Hyundai in the WRC2 class. The Finn, who drove with M-Sport from 2017 to 2021, also drove the final rally of the 2021 season in the Korean stable, when he replaced Ott Tänak too.
The best ranking of his career is the second place in Sardinia 2019. He has reached the award ball three times in his career.
Hyundai also says that it has washed by Emil Lindholm. Last year’s champion of the WRC2 class was attached to the team’s development program. 26-year-old Lindholm will drive Hyundai’s WRC2 fleet in the World Rally Championship in Estonia.
