Despite great sporting successes in recent years, Christian Streich is as modest as ever before the new season. The SC Freiburg coach speaks of staying in the league as the top goal of the season.
“I’m always happy to be on the training ground,” said Christian Streich in an interview with SWR Sport at the start of training on Monday afternoon, “but I wouldn’t have had anything against it if it had continued at the same pace.” This rhythm means the summer break, which SC Freiburg’s head coach used to rest a bit after a long season with an enormous workload in three competitions. “With hiking, cycling, swimming and reading from time to time,” Streich spent the time free from competitive games.

But staying in the league is always a priority: “That was the way it was and it will stay that way.”
