That will be neat! Ton scrapes away stickers on the route of the silent tour

The annual silent march will take place on Wednesday 4 May because of National Remembrance Day. The route through the Dorpsstraat must of course look picobello. Ton lends a hand.

Ton has been working for DSS Real Estate Maintenance for 22 years. In Zoetermeer, The Hague and Waddinxveen, among others, he removes placards and stickers from objects on the street that do not belong there.

All kinds of stickers

The route of the silent tour goes from the beginning of the Dorpsstraat to the Pilatusdam. Ton walks the same way and along the way he spots stickers and other stickers that need to be removed. “We do this on behalf of the municipality of Zoetermeer. Some stickers are very stuck,” says Ton, as he removes a sticker with a QR code with a scraper.

“I come across all kinds of things: stickers against corona but also other messages. Normally we would not be ordered to remove them so quickly, but because of Remembrance Day it has to look neat here of course.”

Also graffiti

Ton has already removed a lot of stickers in his 22 years of work experience. “In a short time I will be celebrating my anniversary, I’ve been doing the same work for years. Well, since fifteen years I also remove graffiti. You need completely different materials for that.”
