‘That will be a very big flop’

Rob Kemps will have his own talk show on SBS 6, Johan Derksen revealed last night in Today Inside. “I’ve seen the format and it’s going to be another very big TV flop.”

Johan Derksen is immediately on track now that he is back from vacation. Although the viewing figures of Today Inside were slightly lower yesterday because of football – 573 thousand people watched (13 percent market share) – he did have a nice scoop in store for the viewer: Rob Kemps gets his own talk show.

Rob Kemps show

It won’t work, Johan fears. “There’s a talk show coming up. I know, because that Rob is a fan of our program and wanted me in it. I’d love to help that guy, but I’ve seen the format and it’s going to be another huge TV flop. It’s about ten questions. Well, in the school paper they would throw it out, ‘Unsuitable.’”

According to the football analyst, Rob Kemps must be very careful that he does not squander his talent. “He made a crushing impression on me in De Slimste Mens and that Chansons program was surprising and also fun.”

Overexploitation

It is a shame that SBS 6 now lets him make such inferior programs, Johan thinks. He thought the low point was The Wheel. “That was ridiculous, but now he also has to do I Love Holland.”

Presenter Wilfred Genee: “That is sad for that boy, because he has real talent.”

Johan: “The boy is being exploited for robbery.”

burden of football

Back to the viewing figures: RTL 7 made it quite difficult for the competition yesterday by broadcasting the Glasgow Rangers – PSV match. 1.1 million people (25 percent market share) watched it. Only NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens managed to captivate more viewers at prime time, namely 1.2 million (28 percent).

The other most viewed prime-time titles were NPO 1’s We Are Almost (1 million), RTL 4’s B&B Full of Love (790 thousand), SBS 6’s Today Inside (573 thousand) and NPO 1’s The Real Life of the British Nobility (455 thousand).

Viewing figures

Programs that did not make the top 15 include Hart van Nederland (455 thousand), Nieuwsuur (402 thousand), Buy Without Watching (399 thousand), URK! (348 thousand), Shownieuws (335 thousand) and Shownieuws Summer edition (130 thousand).
