‘That whine! Have they gone mad?’

Derk Bolt lashes out pretty hard at the popular program Beste Zangers, which, just like his own Spoorloos, is broadcast on NPO 1. “Then I think: have you gone mad?”

The fact that 67-year-old Derk Bolt was under fire last month because of all kinds of cheating reunions in Spoorloos does not prevent him from criticizing all kinds of other programs. Yet he does so now in the well-known VARAgids column Buis & Haard, in which celebrities talk about their viewing behaviour.

“All that whining!”

Best Singers is one of the programs that has to pay for it. He says that he watches the NOS Journaal every day, but: “Then I turn off the TV because before you know it I’m watching Best singers. Look, those people can all sing well, I won’t deny that, but that they cry at the first tones is too far for me.”

He continues: “Then they express themselves in the commentary with texts like: so beautifully performed, so intense, that came in. How many superlatives can you have? Then I think: have you gone mad?”

talk shows

Derk is also not a fan of talk shows like Jinek and Op1. “I find it more and more difficult to love television. Find something that is really beautiful. First, television is full of talk shows. It makes me crazy.”

He doesn’t look Jinek out of principle. “I don’t look at the commercial companies anyway. With one exception: the weather on RTL 4. It makes no sense at all, but I love the weather forecast.”

Down

Finally, Derk also criticizes all programs about people with Down syndrome. “What I can’t watch is Over My Dead Body. Just like programs with people with Down syndrome.”

Why? “I feel like they are being exploited. And if Johnny de Mol doesn’t present it, Paul de Leeuw will.”
