Thanks to Mikko Koivu for the shared experiences

Mikko Koivu has a double party this weekend.

Former NHL striker Antti Miettinen is one of those people who knows Mikko Koivu well. It is through common NHL years and a common locker life.

– Mikko was a good teammate and a good captain. It was with that well-known high level of demand that he helped friends, Miettinen says.

– As a player, Miko becomes the first to remember that character. His desire to compete, succeed and win was immense. While playing with him and against him, he noticed these things.

Koivu, who was born in 1983, sometimes gets a slightly serious picture based on TV interviews.

– Maybe the Minnesota Wild captain needs to play a certain role in front of the camera. Mikko has an excellent sense of humor, he knows how to take it easy. He doesn’t play, Miettinen, who played 539 games in the NHL, continues.

Together again

Miettinen from Hämeenlinna and Koivu from Turku played three games together in Wild. The years were 2008–11.

– I have thanked Mikko for our shared experiences. I have a lot of good memories of playing together.

At the turn of the year, the duo were together again. This time in the national team coaching team under the age of 20 at the World Championships.

– We quickly caught up with the feeling we once had in our gaming career. It was even sad again to leave Edmonton on different roads, 41-year-old Miettinen admits.

Double party

It was Mikko Koivu’s honor to play carefully in two directions and protect his own goal. The Turku resident never stole the defense head while playing. AOP

Birch has a double party on the weekend. On Saturday, the TPS kennel turned 39 years old. On Sunday, Minnesota Wild freezes Koivu’s game number through a spectacular ceremony.

It takes place at the sold-out Xcel Energy Center in front of a passionate Minnesota audience before the Nashville match kicks off.

– I’m happy and proud of Mikko. It becomes a warm feeling. I can only imagine how memorable an evening Sunday will be. A moment that brings emotions and memories to the surface. Primarily for Miko, but also for other people.

Birch number 9 is the first to be disabled by Wild. This is a very big show of appreciation for the athlete in North American sports culture.

Disc area

Mythically, Minnesota is an ideal place to play hockey. Nowhere else in the United States is the species as large and popular as in the northern state.

– Quite amazing environment. Hockey is a big sport there, although there are big sports in the city like baseball and Yankee football.

– It has been said that Minnesota has a lot in common with Finland. I can sign it. There are four seasons, water and forest. And there are a lot of people with a Finnish background.

The thoughtful himself has a special relationship with the Minneapolis and St. Paul area.

– Our son was born there. There were warm distances in that place.
