The Füchse Berlin remain unbeaten in the handball Bundesliga!
After an increase in performance in the second half, the Berliners defeated TSV Hannover-Burgdorf 34:33 (18:21) in the pursuit duel on Sunday in front of 8,419 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle. The Füchse remain second in the table behind MT Melsungen. The best Berlin throwers were Mathias Gidsel with eight and Lasse Andersson with seven goals.
The start was balanced. For the Foxes, Victor Kireev surprisingly started in the Berlin goal. But the Russian could not distinguish himself. Because the defense, which had been so strong recently, was hardly able to gain any traction. Almost every attack by the guests resulted in a goal. And as the Foxes’ mistakes in attack piled up, they found themselves trailing after ten minutes. This grew to four goals shortly before half-time (17:21).
The hosts came out of the locker room more awake and quickly came within a goal (21:22). But the joy only lasted for a short time. Hannover punished various mistakes with a 4-0 run.
But the foxes fought. And because goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev, who had already been substituted in the first half, also became a factor with a few saves, the momentum changed. The Foxes came close again and even took the lead back five minutes before the end after a long time through Fabian Wiede (33:32).
Things got hectic in the last minute. Six seconds before the end, Hannover’s Branko Vujovic was shown the red card and Hans Lindberg scored a seven-meter shot to seal the win.
