2 goals in stoppage time
The championship race in the Premier League is open again. Leader and defending champion Manchester City lost spectacularly 2: 3 (1: 1) against Tottenham Hotspur in their own stadium on Saturday with an outstanding double goal scorer Harry Kane. Man City are now six points ahead of second-placed Liverpool, who beat Norwich 3-1 but have played a game fewer than the Citizens. Both teams will meet in a direct duel this season.
Tottenham got off to a great start and took the lead early on through a goal from winter newcomer Dejan Kulusevski (4th minute). But the German national player Ilkay Gündogan (33rd) equalized in the first half – with his goal he drew level with Mesut Özil as the German with the most goals in the Premier League.

After the break, a high-class game developed, in which Kane (59th) first shot the guests from London back into the lead and then even supposedly increased it, but his goal to make it 3-1 was disallowed for offside after video evidence. In added time, Man City was again awarded a legitimate hand penalty after video evidence, which Riyad Mahrez (90 + 2) converted. City then increased the pressure again, but in the seven-minute stoppage time Kane (90+5) scored the winning goal for the “Spurs”, who also brought the result in the hectic final phase at the Etihad Stadium over time and now the seventh occupy a place in the table.

“We didn’t have to lose a game to know how tough it is [, Meister zu werden]. There are still many, many games to play. I said a few weeks ago that we need a lot of points and that it will be very difficult because the teams we play against are fighting for the Champions League or the Europa League or not to be relegated,” said Manchester coach Pep Guardiola (quoted via “Guardians’) after losing with his team in the league for the first time in 15 games.
