Thanks to a stalk of celery, a man manages to find wedding rings in 20 tons of rubbish

Kevin Butler from Windham was recently cleaning up his kitchen and then taking the garbage to the dumpster when he realized too late that he had made a big mistake. His wife had cleaned their wedding rings and let them dry in a piece of paper towel. Butler was unaware of this and had unknowingly thrown the wedding rings in the trash.

In an attempt to retrieve the rings, the man drove to the local sorting center and spoke to the waste collectors. “I’m pretty sure I threw them away,” he told them. Together with the employees, he viewed the camera images of the waste collection service to narrow their search field. They then used an excavator to search between twenty tons of waste at the landfill. After a few swipes from the machine, Butler spotted something that made the search a lot easier.

He saw a stalk of celery sticking out of a garbage bag. He was sure that he had just thrown away such stems. They took the bag out of the heap and began to search it. In the end, it was the last handkerchief the garbage collectors opened. But Butler had his wedding rings back. He then treated everyone at the dump to pizza to thank them.
