In short, from “dry” training, created by Maximilian Arcidiaco, the ThaiFit entered the water to win over fans ofcombat training in the swimming pool. Thanks to the trainer Silvia Senates, a water fitness trainer for over 25 years, who reworked the method by creating ThaiFit Water®, this discipline has taken off. Here, then, are its strengths and benefits, explained by the expert.

thaifit water®, water fighting

“ThaiFit Water® offers the typical movements of combat sportsas muay thai, kickboxing And boxing, adapted and “reprogrammed” in the aquatic environment. Pool lessons include kicks, punches, proposed in repetitions and combinations (combos)performed with water at chest height, both free body and using gloves And bags specifically designed for swimming pool activities” explains Silvia Senati. “Hitting the bag with legs and arms, challenging the resistance of the water, makes the training even more engaging and intense”.

the benefits of training

The resistance of water allows you to train the cardiorespiratory system, the coordination and the Core (abdominal, lumbar and pelvis area), essential for obtaining postural control”. The exercises are safe and effective. “There is no choreography, but only the repetition of small sequences that are built gradually and repeated, in such a way as to be automated, within the same lesson”. The goal of this aquatic discipline is, in fact, to teach the management of the body in water, to improve theequilibrium and the coordination and above all to train the muscles of Core, which give stability to the body. Training this area is essential for back health and to improve posture”.

the lesson

“The ThaiFit Water® lesson lasts 45 minutes and includes an initial settling-in phase, a central phase with the construction of combinations of techniques and power exercises, with or without aquaboxing bag, a moment dedicated to the specific stimulation of the abdomen and the final dynamic cool-down” states Senati. “Whoever decides to follow the lessons must know that it is about An intense workout for arms, legs and core. The water, with its density and turbulence, offers a variable load based on the position assumed and the force expressed in the exercises, the maintenance of static positions and during the movements of the body immersed up to the shoulders. There muscle toning it occurs, therefore, thanks to an excellent alternation of concentric-eccentric contractions of the various muscle areas, such as to allow a balanced and complete workout”.

combat technique

“Technique is also very important to perform the ThaiFit Water® movements correctly and safely, as well as all the specific exercises for the core muscle group (abdominals in particular) which must be performed by making the most of the resistance and difficulties created by the water element”. In fact, in each training session, approximately ten minutes are dedicated to training the Core in a targeted way.

goals

“The main objective of ThaiFit Water® is to improve aquatic skills using specific movements of combat sports, but without direct blows to the opponent and without risking trauma.trainingBetter biweeklyallows you to develop a greater coordination capacity and balance, put to the test by the water element” adds the expert. It is not easy, in fact, to perform the proposed sequences with water up to your shoulders! “But above all it can be an alternative or a complementary proposal to the gym fun and anti-stress. I recommend it, especially to those in need release tensions or who prefers activities that give a lot power. Another great benefit of the practice fight in the swimming pool is that the water exerts an action of lymphatic drainage All over the body; promotes venous return and improves blood circulation as well as stimulating the cardio-respiratory system.”

bag and gloves in the water

The THiFit Water® equipment includes “a vertical punching bag (Acquapole Boxing Bag) to be hit with punches and kicks to make the lesson in the swimming pool more engaging, combined with the use of gloves (Combat Gloves). The bag, specifically designed to be immersed in water, is introduced after a few lessons (for beginners) or alternated in the various phases of training. And it also serves to motivate the class.” In short, you know what to hit!

kicks and punches to the rhythm of the music

“Thai fit water has its own music, specially designed and exclusive, in order to involve the participant in the lesson; It’s not a commercial genre. The certified trainer can thus guide the group to focus on the correct and safe execution of the gestures, thanks to the use of different execution times, adapted to the technique”.

to whom it is indicated

“To all those who have a fair amount of aquatic skills, men and women, who want to try their hand at medium and high intensity training. It has no contraindications, but it is not recommended for those suffering from particular pathologies of the back, knees or shoulders; although this discipline is less traumatic than “dry” activities at a muscle-articular level, thanks to the braking and hydrostatic action of the water”.
