TH Lübeck President re-elected as DAAD Vice President

At the general meeting of DAAD in Bonn, the previous DAAD President Joybrato Mukherjee and the DAAD Vice President Muriel Helbig were unanimously elected for a further term.

Joybrato Mukherjee has been President of the since 2009 Justus-Liebig university of Giessen, where he previously served as First Vice President. From 2012 to 2019 he was Vice President of the DAAD, since January 2020 he has been honorary President of the DAAD. Mukherjee was born in India and grew up in the Rhineland. He studied English, biology and educational science at the RWTH Aachen. He was at the University of Bonn also received his doctorate and habilitation in Bonn. In 2003 he received a professorship for English linguistics at the University of Giessen. The 49-year-old is a member of a number of scientific advisory boards and boards of trustees in Germany and abroad.

Vice President of the world’s largest academic exchange organization

Muriel Kim Helbig has been President of the Technical University of Lübeck since 2014. She has been a board member of the DAAD since 2016 and Vice President of the world’s largest academic exchange organization since 2020. The 48-year-old studied psychology at the University of Potsdam and received his doctorate in a DFG graduate school in cooperation with the University of Haifa and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. She then worked at the University of Jena in graduate funding and then headed the International Office of the University as head of department Bauhaus University Weimar.
